In this video I'm going to talk about surrounding yourself with the right people. I think this is a really important one for your business success. In regards to this topic, one quote by Jim Rohn stands out for me, which says, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. The people you spend the most time with will shape who you are. Now, starting your own business may not be all that popular among your friends and family. When I left corporate America, I had my wife support and that's all I needed. Many people thought I was making a big mistake. Staying in corporate America was a safer bet since I had three kids to feed and my wife

didn't work. That being said, I knew staying in corporate America wouldn't lead to a fulfilled life for me, so that's why I left. Now in my immediate family, there aren't many entrepreneurs. I think it's really important to surround yourself with positive people that can give you good advice. I didn't have any people to turn to, so I ended up just turning to books. During different stages of my business, there have been different books that have had a positive impact. As I mentioned previously, one book when I first started that really helped me was Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuk. This book really helped to emphasize the opportunity in today's business environment

and how a lot of business barriers to entry have been broken over the last several years. You no longer need millions of dollars to get in front of your target audience like you have in years past. Gary V wrote this book back in 2009, but it's still relevant today. Many great principles in this book helped me feel confident in the business that I was building. Another book that stands out for me that positively impacted my mindset was the 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. I've always been a saver. I would try to spend as little money as possible. There was something in that book that really shifted my mindset around that.

We talked about how he focused on creating a bigger shovel, which is a metaphor to generate more money instead of focusing on saving. Now I'm still frugal to this day. I don't like to waste money, but I don't focus on saving $5 here and there. I focus more on how we can generate more revenue as a company. If you don't have many positive influences in your life, you can always turn to books like I did. I've essentially been able to surround myself with great mentors, even though I wasn't talking to them one-on-one. When you're working in the real estate media business, you're doing a lot of driving, so

it's a great opportunity to learn new things from others. Alright guys, that's going to do it for this one. Reach out if you have any questions. We'll see you guys on the next one.
