In this video, I will take you through the process of editing aerial photos of a house in North Scottsdale. I shot 18 photos, but I only need to deliver nine or less, so I have to reduce the number of photos. My focus is on picking the best shots that showcase the house and its surroundings. I used the Mavic air too to shoot the photos in a four by three aspect ratio, but I need to crop them to fit the desired aspect ratio.
So, I start by reducing the number of photos to nine. I remove some of the photos that don't show the house or its surroundings well. I prefer corner shots that provide better views of the house and its surroundings.
Then I start editing the photos. I begin with the first photo, changing the aspect ratio to two by three or three by two. I drag the photo down and hit auto on the settings. I reduce highlights and increase shadows to reveal more details on the house. I feel like it needs more texture, so I try adding some texture and clarity to it. I hit copy to apply the same settings to the other photos.
For the second photo, I reposition the crop up a bit, center the house better, and make the photo a bit warmer. I also use luminance to reduce the brightness of the sky. I copy the settings and apply them to the first photo to maintain consistency.
I continue editing the photos, cropping them and adjusting the settings to maintain a consistent look. I don't use dng converter on aerial photos because it can make them pixelated when resized. So, I leave them original and resize them on export.
After editing all the photos, I check to see if they look consistent. If not, I make some adjustments to the white balance or other settings. Finally, I export the photos, resize them to reduce their size, and label them before delivering them to the customer.
