98 - Job Shadow #2 - Aerial Videography - Scottsdale

Today, I'm going to be doing aerial video on this beautiful 2500 square foot home in North Scottsdale, Arizona. I'm excited to get started and capture some amazing footage. As I survey the area, I notice a tree nearby that could be an obstacle, but it won't stop me from getting the shots I need. I quickly double-check my settings and make sure I'm using the Mavic Air 2 set to 4k wide and 30 frames per second HDR video. With everything set up, I hit record and take off. Starting wide, I slowly ascend and reveal the stunning mountain range in the background. The shot is perfect, and I'm clear of the tree. As I fly around, I notice some beautiful houses and a small palm tree, so I take advantage of the location and capture some diverse shots. When I come back around to the property, I want to keep my eyes on the drone while staying out of the shot, as it can be challenging to remove people from drone footage. I try using the spotlight or active track point of view, but it doesn't quite work, so I decide to fly towards the house while keeping the camera locked onto it. Next, I try to get a top-down shot, so I position the drone to capture the house from the side. The aerial videos I usually shoot are usually no more than a minute long, but I like having options, so I record everything. Dropping down closer to the pool, I get some beautiful shots of the backyard. I notice there are no obstacles, so I take the opportunity to capture some great footage. Shooting in 4k, I can digitally zoom if needed. Finally, I decide to get some aerial shots of the house from above. I aim for the sky to show about 1/3 of the frame and slowly pan around 360 degrees. As I'm up there, I keep an eye out for any additional amenities in the area, such as golf courses. In the end, I'm confident that I got some fantastic footage that will make the walkthrough video more interesting. Aerial videos can get boring if you don't diversify your shots, so I'm glad I was able to capture a variety of angles and perspectives. If you have any questions on how to shoot aerial video like this, feel free to reach out.
