193 - Policies And Procedures
In this video, I want to talk about the importance of having a Policy and Procedures Manual. Creating the Policy and Procedures Manual may not be the most fun of tasks, but it's important to clearly define what is expected at your company, as well as how we operate. We go over all kinds of topics in our Policy and Procedures Manual like paid time off, dress code, car policies, corrective action, and more. As a team member at Lister Pros, I've found this manual to be a valuable resource to be successful in my role. It's important to make sure that we're following our local laws and regulations in our policy and procedures manual, so we have a legal professional review it before distributing it to the team.
Our Policy and Procedures Manual is an active document that evolves over time as we run into different issues. There are always one or two adjustments that we make every year based on the issues that we ran into during the previous year. I've seen firsthand how important it is to have this manual to let everybody know what's expected of them, how our company operates, and to be able to hold our team accountable. For example, we've had issues in the past with team members leaving and taking customers with them. To reduce these situations, we have segmented roles and responsibilities and put more emphasis on non-compete and non-disclosure agreements.
If you're in the process of making a policy and procedures manual yourself, feel free to use some of our content. However, make sure to have it reviewed by a legal professional before distributing it to your team. It's important to retain a signed copy for your records that shows that you went over it with each team member. Overall, having a Policy and Procedures Manual is vital for any organization to let people know what is expected of them, how the company operates, and to be able to hold the team accountable.
