Delegating tasks is a crucial aspect of running a successful business, and in this video, I'll be sharing my thoughts on how it can free up your time and allow you to focus on important priorities. I've always delegated tasks to team members, but I realized the true potential of delegation when we started using Upwork in 2018. It helped me identify the day-to-day tasks that I was doing unnecessarily and delegate them to other team members or freelancers.
Screen recordings have been the most effective way to delegate tasks. I explain and demonstrate the task, send it over to the individual or team, and follow up until they master it. We also delegate photo editing to one individual, who trains additional team members, thus reducing the time and effort required to train each individual.
By delegating effectively, I have been able to focus on important but not urgent tasks, like business growth and team member development, while spending less time on day-to-day operations. I aim to spend as much time as possible in the important but not urgent quadrant of the business, as it helps me avoid urgent but not important tasks. I believe that delegation is one of the primary keys to our business success, and without it, it would be challenging to manage the organization that we have today.
It's essential to look at the tasks that you're spending your time on and evaluate whether someone else should be doing them. While it may take more time initially to train someone, it will save you a lot of time in the long run, and allow you to focus on other business priorities.
