23 - 6 Beginner Mistakes And How To Avoid Them

As a beginner in real estate photography, it's important to learn from the mistakes of others. In this video, I go over six common mistakes that beginners make and how to avoid them. First off, not having the proper lens can make or break the quality of your photos. Investing in a good wide-angle lens will help you capture an entire room and produce the professional-looking photos that your customers are looking for. Next, parking your car directly in front of the home is a mistake that can easily be avoided. Even if you park across the street, there's still a chance that your car will show up in the pictures. Make sure to park a few houses down the street to ensure that it doesn't show up in the pictures. Another mistake is not removing the for sale sign. This can result in fines for the agent if it shows up in photos on the MLS. Make sure to remove signs when possible or blur them out during the editing process. Prepping the home properly is also crucial for a successful shoot. This includes having vehicles removed from driveways, turning on lights, turning off ceiling fans, and putting toilet seats down. Make sure everything inside and out is photo-ready before you start shooting. Creating a great customer experience is also important. Introduce yourself, be well-dressed, and ask the homeowner or agent if they have any specific things they would like you to focus on. These simple gestures will help create a great customer experience, and satisfied customers are more likely to refer business to you. Finally, setting unrealistic expectations can lead to disappointment for your clients. Be honest about your timeline and don't promise something that you can't deliver. It's better to under-promise and over-deliver than the other way around. By avoiding these six common mistakes, you can deliver professional photos and a great customer experience. Remember to always strive for improvement and learn from your mistakes.
