67 - Color Correcting In FCPX

As a content creator who uses Final Cut Pro, I often find myself doing some subtle color correction to my footage to enhance its look and feel. In this video, I wanted to share some tips on how to color correct in Final Cut Pro. Firstly, I must mention that Sony cameras do a pretty good job with colors, but there are times when you'll want a different look and feel depending on your shot. Shooting in HLG is usually pretty good straight out of the camera, but you can fine-tune those color profiles in-camera if you prefer your footage to be more saturated or less. This can save you a lot of time in post-production. Color correcting in Final Cut Pro is pretty simple. I usually use the color wheels adjustment, which allows me to adjust the midtones saturation. This adjustment is subtle and adds a little bit of life to the footage, making it look a little warmer. Final Cut Pro used to have just the color board, which was quite limiting. But now, with the color wheels, you can fine-tune your adjustments in the highlights, midtones, and shadows. If you want to just change the color in the shadows, you have that option too. You can also adjust the temperature and tint of your footage, as well as the hue adjustments. Copying and pasting adjustments from one clip to another can be a time-saver when color correcting. For example, when correcting exterior shots, you can copy and paste the adjustments you made to one clip onto all the other exterior clips to give them a similar look and feel. In addition to color correcting, Final Cut Pro has a range of built-in effects that can be used to create interesting shots. These include masking effects, which I'll cover in another video. However, some of the effects are a little extreme, and not very practical for real estate videos. Overall, I believe that Final Cut Pro provides all the tools you need to produce a professional-looking product for real estate videos. While some people may prefer to export their footage and use other color correcting platforms, I find that Final Cut Pro does a great job and gives you the necessary tools to get the job done. I hope this video has been helpful to you! #colorcorrection #finalcutpro #videoediting #filmmaking #postproduction #videoproduction #colorgrading #colorist #editingtips #sonyalpha #propertyvideos
