Hello everyone, we will discuss the different shot types and composition for aerial photography. When it comes to aerial photography, there are many shot types to consider depending on the property and the surrounding area. The types of shots you take can vary greatly from property to property, and you need to determine which shots are the best fit for the specific property. In this video, we'll discuss the different types of shots that we recommend and that we typically take for our clients.
The first shot type we recommend is the front elevation shot. This shot is taken at a lower elevation of around 50 feet, and it shows the front of the property as well as the surrounding areas and views. This shot provides a great overall view of the property, and it's usually the first shot that we take.
The second shot type is the front corner elevation shot. We take this shot at the same 50-foot elevation as the front elevation shot, but we take corner shots of the lot, usually on the left and right sides, pointing towards the opposite corner of the lot. These shots are typically taken at a 45-degree angle, and they give a different perspective of the property and surrounding areas.
The third shot type is the rear elevation shot. This shot is similar to the front elevation shot, but it's taken from the back of the property, showing what the backyard has to offer. This shot is a great way to showcase any outdoor features that the property has.
The fourth shot type is the higher elevation shot. We repeat shots one through three but at a higher elevation, usually around 150 feet. These shots provide a bird's eye view of the property and its surroundings and can help showcase the property's location and views.
The fifth shot type is the sides of the property. We like to take side shots of the property, depending on the area and what it looks like. With these shots, you can usually get a good sense of the depth of the lot as well as additional views.
The sixth shot type is the top-down shot. This shot is taken at a higher elevation with the camera pointing straight down. We usually take one pretty high that shows the lot and the area and then take another lower-level one that only shows the lot. These shots are great for showcasing any outdoor features like a pool or garden.
The seventh shot type is the area and community shot. These shots show the property's proximity to area and community amenities like golf courses, schools, and parks. You want to make sure to show where the home is in relation to these amenities and what they have to offer.
The eighth shot type is the views shot. With these shots, we typically focus on the views from above the property and are less concerned about including the property in these particular photos. These shots usually show mountains, forests, buildings, and any other views the property may have.
The ninth shot type is the zoom shot. Some drones allow you to zoom in either optically or digitally. Using this feature, you can capture some amazing shots that look much different than the wide-angle shots. Even if you shoot at the exact same spot, the zoom-in shot will make the view appear much closer to the home and can create an awesome shot for the right property.
When it comes to aerial photography, it's important to keep safety and obstacles in mind while shooting photos. There may be aircraft in the area or flight level restrictions that you'll need to follow. We recommend using your best judgment depending on how many photos the customer orders, as well as the property itself. These photos should help sell and showcase the good a property has to offer.
