In today's video, I want to talk about the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. As the saying goes, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. I believe this statement holds true in both our personal and professional lives. When I left my corporate job to start my own business, not everyone around me was supportive. But I knew that staying in a job that didn't fulfill me wasn't the right choice for me. That's why I believe it's important to surround yourself with positive and supportive people who can provide you with good advice and help you grow.
For me, my immediate family didn't have many entrepreneurs, so I had to look for other sources of inspiration and guidance. Books became my mentors, and I found that reading books by successful entrepreneurs helped me learn a lot and shape my mindset positively. For instance, Gary Vaynerchuk's book, Crush It, helped me understand the opportunities that existed in the current business environment and how to leverage them. The book made me more confident in the business I was building. Another book that had a significant impact on me was the 10x Rule by Grant Cardone. It changed my mindset about money, and I started focusing more on generating more revenue than saving money.
However, it's not just about reading books. It's also about surrounding yourself with positive people who can provide you with the right support and guidance. That's why I believe it's important to have a diverse team with different strengths, skills, and expertise. Having a team that is passionate about the business and is aligned with its vision is crucial to its success. Even if you're working alone, you can join groups or communities of like-minded individuals who can provide you with the support and guidance you need.
