172 - Professional Appearance

In this video, I'm going to discuss the importance of professional appearance in your business. While it may seem like a no-brainer, it can be tricky to define what professional appearance means as you add more people to your team. It's important to set clear standards with your team so that your customers get a consistent customer experience. This includes personal hygiene, which can lead to a bad customer experience if not managed properly. In the markets that we serve, the standard photographer attire is a branded polo. However, we've decided to use branded t-shirts instead, which offers a more comfortable and consistent look for most of the homes that we shoot, especially during the hot summer months. While t-shirts may be less professional than polos, they fit our brand and our customers have come to expect them. We also have branded button downs, polos, and jackets for cooler weather and high-end properties. When we go into homes, we always ask the homeowner or agent if they would like us to remove our shoes. We also incorporate wearing booties to create a more professional environment. It's also important to set standards around pants, shorts, and shoes. The more specific you can be with your team, the better. We go over our professional appearance expectations with each new hire and post them on the wall in our office as a constant reminder. It's important to adjust your professional appearance standards based on the image you want to create and what is appropriate in your market. Dress standards can differ, so make sure that your team is on the same page and held accountable for following company expectations. At the end of the day, professional appearance is crucial in creating a positive customer experience and building your brand. So set those standards and make sure that your team is on board.
