In this video, I will be sharing our company's hiring process. Hiring the right people can be challenging, but it's essential for building a successful business. We primarily use Indeed as our employee hiring platform since it gives us a large pool of potential candidates. However, depending on where you live, you may need to find an alternative platform to suit your needs. Once we find a suitable candidate, we conduct a phone or Zoom interview, where we ask several questions to determine if they have customer service experience, which is crucial for our business. We're less concerned about their photography skills since we can train them on that.
After we have shortlisted a candidate, we discuss their role, responsibilities, and expectations, ensuring they understand what's expected of them. New hires then undergo a two-week training period with a media specialist trainer to learn our processes and standards. We also have a 90-day probationary period for new hires to ensure they're the right fit for our company. If they're not a good fit, we let them go quickly.
We provide company vehicles to our media specialists, so we do background checks and driving record checks to ensure they're insurable. This step is crucial since we've had instances where we hired someone without conducting a background check, and they couldn't drive a work vehicle.
It's important to know the hiring rules and regulations in your area. Arizona is an at-will hiring state, meaning we can terminate an employee for various reasons. However, the rules and regulations may vary depending on your location, so make sure you're familiar with them. We have also attached a list of hiring questions in the bonus section of our course to help you during the interview process.
Our process for hiring freelancers and contractors is a bit different. We use Upwork to find virtual freelancer help, but we usually have to go through a few before finding a good fit. For freelance photographers, we recommend using Thumbtack to find local real estate photographers. We hire contract photographers in all our non-Arizona and Nevada markets. If they're a good fit and follow instructions, we bring them on as contractors as long as they agree to our pay structure.
Regardless of whether we're hiring employees, contractors, or freelancers, we aim to build a team committed to delivering quality work and an excellent customer experience. It's crucial to have a solid hiring process to ensure you're building the right team for your business. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
