Matterport models are a fantastic tool for real estate photography, but creating a high-quality model can be tricky. In this video, we shared five tips for shooting Matterport models that will help you create a great user experience.
Tip number one is to prepare the home before starting. This means turning off fans, opening all doors for rooms that you'll be scanning, and making sure toilet seats are down and lights are on. It's also important to carry doorstops to prop open self-closing doors.
Tip number two is to manage the scanning distance between scans. Consistent spacing between scan points is crucial for a good user experience, and we recommend keeping a distance of six to eight feet between scans.
Tip number three is to manage the occupants when creating Matterport models. Ideally, the occupants should leave the home to avoid any issues with animals or people showing up in multiple scans. If they can't or don't want to leave, advise them to stay on one side of the home while you scan the other side.
Tip number four is to create a separate model for a casita or separate building that is distant from the home. While there is an additional cost associated with creating an additional model, it's a good practice to deliver a separate model to the customer.
Tip number five is to deal with direct sunlight shining on the floor. If a room has direct sunlight, finish scanning that room before moving on to minimize alignment issues caused by moving sunlight.
Overall, following these five tips will help you create high-quality Matterport models that provide a great user experience for your customers. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us.
