In this video, I'm going to share my experience with time tracking. For my business, we use T sheets which has been our go-to system since 2015. T sheets is now part of the Intuit QuickBooks platform and has evolved over time to offer a lot of excellent features, such as PTO tracking and GPS tracking for when and where team members clock in and out.
Even if you're a solo entrepreneur, it may be worth considering a time tracker if you're billing hourly. For us, we use time tracking not only for payroll purposes, but also to track team member efficiency metrics, such as the average amount of time it takes to complete a job. We keep an eye on total hours for the week to ensure that team members are getting enough hours, and we adjust the schedule accordingly.
Since our day-to-day workload can fluctuate, we check T sheets on Thursdays to see how hours are balancing out for the week. If some team members need more hours, we shift the schedule accordingly. We also work Monday through Saturday and ensure that team members who work on Saturdays get a day off during the week to maintain a good work-life balance.
While T sheets has been reliable for us, there are many other time tracking platforms on the market that may be cheaper or even free. I encourage you to do your research and find a platform that suits your needs. Ultimately, the goal is to find a system that helps you manage your team efficiently and provides insights into how your business is performing.
Remember to prioritize your team members' work-life balance and give them the time off they need. That's my experience with time tracking, and I hope this video was helpful. If you have any questions, please reach out.
